When I originally saw the trailer for Iron Man, I thought it looked like cinematic disaster. I had visions of Daredevil and the Hulk all over again. I fully expected bad CGI, a poorly written script, and characters that I just couldn't manage to care about. So, I was more than a little reluctant to see it, even when good reviews later came pouring in.
Yesterday was rainy, so I took a gamble and gave the local theater some of my money. The result? I was shocked!
It was actually a good movie. There was a real script, real actors, and--though not perfect--they clearly put some real effort into the CGI. Character development, humor, and physics at least good enough that I could maintain my suspension of disbelief.
Good job Hollywood. See what you can do when you actually try.
